Why Choose GroundWorx™ Ultra?

Durable

The urethane top coat is more durable than epoxy coatings, resistant to scratches and scuffing, with tensile strength that exceeds 6,000 pounds.

Attractive

GroundWorx Ultra comes with an attractive, no-wax semi-gloss finish. The urethane top coat resists yellowing – the discoloration that occurs over time with regular epoxy floors. GroundWorx Ultra is available in a variety of colors, including a near white – with custom color-matching for larger projects.

Easy to Install

GroundWorx Ultra is quick and easy to apply. Similar to regular floor coatings, the two-layer installation consists of 100% solids epoxy primer and conductive top coat, with no messy black middle layer. GX Ultra can be applied over most subfloors, including wood, VCT, existing coatings and concrete.

Meets ANSI/ESD Guidelines

GroundWorx Ultra offers permanent conductivity and is fully compliant with all recommended guidelines for static-control flooring in an ESD-Protected Area per ANSI/ESD S20.20.

Low Cost. High Value

GroundWorx Ultra gives you a strong, highly durable ESD floor, with optimal ESD performance, at a reasonable price.

Performance

A Generation 3 ESD coating, GroundWorx Ultra’s conductive top coat provides consistent ESD properties throughout the space. GX Ultra can be manufactured in the conductive (EC) range (<10E6 ohms) or static-dissipative (SD) range (10E6 – 10E9 ohms).

Proper application and routine maintenance are essential to achieving long-term performance from GroundWorx™ Ultra. Thorough surface preparation ensures optimal adhesion, conductivity, and durability, while straightforward application procedures help minimize downtime during installation. Once in service, simple, ESD-safe cleaning practices will preserve the floor’s appearance and electrical properties—delivering consistent static control and long-lasting value in demanding environments.

Remove dirt, grease, oil and other contaminates by scrubbing with detergent and rinsing with clean water. Shot blasting or diamond grinding is the preferred method of preparation for concrete surfaces.

If the floor has been previously coated, clean a small area, rough up with a screen disk using an 80-100 grit screen, and then apply sealer to test for adhesion, lifting, etc. Any areas of the existing coating that display poor adhesion should be stripped. Wash the stripped areas, acid etch, and rinse thoroughly. Allow the floor to dry.

Regularly sweep to avoid retention of dirt and grime which can dull the finish. Clean the floor using StaticWorx ScrubWorx pH-neutral ESD floor cleaner. ScrubWorx can be applied using a soft microfiber mop or an auto-scrubber with white cleaning pads.

What Clients are Saying
quotes

…the floor is awesome! It’s very durable and it’s very convenient that we can lift tiles up to remove debris from underneath, and even replace tiles if they are damaged. So from a functional perspective, this is the best floor for our manufacturing operation.

Tyler Mastromattei, Engineer Advanced Motion Controls

We are 10 months in our new facility. We had damaged several floor tiles during the move but I will say replacing them was painless. Our facility guy wasn’t overly excited with the decision of going with the tile over the epoxy floor but now that he has had a chance to work with it he is glad we went with the tile. We worked with our cleaning crew and have worked out a cleaning/polishing process that really shows off the floor. It was a pleasure working with both of you on the project.

You would never know it was ESD, WHICH IS AMAZING! Your product rocks and I’m so glad we were able to find an attractive solution that didn’t leave us with some run-of-the-mill ugly disaster in the middle of our workspaces!

StaticWorx GroundWorx™ UltraFrequently Asked Questions

What makes GroundWorx Ultra different from traditional ESD epoxy coatings?

GroundWorx Ultra is a Generation 3 ESD coating that uses conductive nanoparticles suspended directly in the topcoat. Unlike older multi-layer systems, it does not rely on a buried conductive ground plane, making it more reliable, easier to install, and simpler to repair.

Is GroundWorx Ultra compliant with ANSI/ESD standards?

Yes. GroundWorx Ultra meets all requirements of ANSI/ESD S20.20 for ESD-protected areas and is fully compliant for use in electronics manufacturing, assembly, and other static-sensitive environments.

Can GroundWorx Ultra be installed over existing floors?

In many cases, yes. GroundWorx Ultra can be installed over properly prepared concrete, VCT, LVT, and some existing coatings. Previously coated floors must be tested for adhesion, and poorly bonded coatings should be removed prior to installation.

How durable is GroundWorx Ultra?

GroundWorx Ultra has a tensile strength exceeding 6,000 pounds and is designed to withstand forklifts, rolling equipment, pallet traffic, and other heavy loads without cracking or delaminating.

Does GroundWorx Ultra generate static when walked on?

No. GroundWorx Ultra is a low static-generating floor with walking body voltage typically below 15 volts when used with appropriate ESD footwear—even across a wide range of humidity levels.

Is GroundWorx Ultra available in both conductive and dissipative ranges?

Yes. GroundWorx Ultra can be manufactured in either the conductive range (<1.0 × 10⁶ ohms) or the static-dissipative range (1.0 × 10⁶ to 1.0 × 10⁹ ohms), depending on application requirements.

How easy is GroundWorx Ultra to repair?

Very easy. If damage occurs, a new topcoat can typically be applied directly over the existing floor. The new surface becomes the new path to ground, eliminating the need for complex repairs.

What routine maintenance is required?

Routine maintenance is simple: regular sweeping to remove debris and periodic cleaning with a pH-neutral, ESD-safe cleaner. No waxing or sealing is required to maintain appearance or performance.

Will GroundWorx Ultra yellow over time?

No. The urethane topcoat resists yellowing and discoloration, maintaining a consistent appearance even in bright or high-traffic environments.

Where is GroundWorx Ultra typically used?

GroundWorx Ultra is commonly used in electronics manufacturing and assembly, test labs, cleanrooms, data centers, medical manufacturing, shipping and receiving areas, and other spaces requiring permanent, cost-effective ESD flooring.

Looking for a More Budget-Focused ESD Epoxy?

Not every application requires a premium ESD coating. GroundWorx™ Ultra is a value-engineered ESD epoxy designed for facilities that need dependable static control at a lower upfront cost. Stronger and more durable than ESD paint, Ultra performs well in warehouses, shipping and receiving areas, leased spaces, and other environments where appearance is secondary to function.

Like all StaticWorx ESD floors, GroundWorx Ultra meets ANSI/ESD S20.20 requirements and delivers reliable static control—while offering quick installation, easy repairs, and cost-effective maintenance.
