Problem 1: Static Discharge & Equipment Vulnerability
Servers, networking hardware, and storage arrays are highly sensitive to ESD. Even a discharge as low as 100 volts — far below the 3,500-volt threshold at which humans can feel a static shock — can corrupt data, disrupt operations, or shorten component life.
Solution
StaticWorx conductive systems provide permanent, humidity-independent conductivity, verified to STM7.1, STM97.1, STM97.2, and ASTMF150. Floors safely dissipate static charge and maintain low body-voltage levels < 100 volts to protect equipment 24/7.
Problem 2: Downtime During Installation or Upgrades
Live data centers cannot shut down for flooring replacement or long adhesive cure times.
Solution
GroundLock Extreme interlocking tiles, RI 2.0 dry adhesive, and StatBond® PSA allow installation in active environments with no downtime or odor. Equipment remains powered while flooring is upgraded or replaced.
Problem 3: Environmental Control & Static Stability
Strict RH and temperature controls can cause some floors to lose conductivity, risking drift, hotspots, or inconsistent testing.

Problem 4: Controlling static at extreme low humidity
There are no specific ESD standards written for data centers. Historically, static control has been managed by maintaining high humidity levels and using wrist straps during equipment service. When humidity is high, cooling systems must remove both sensible heat (temperature) and latent heat (moisture). This latent load dramatically increases energy consumption
Solution
Installing the right ESD floor allows facilities to reduce or relax humidity requirements, which can significantly lower overall energy consumption.
