An excerpt from ESD prevention document ANSI/ESD S20.20:
Transportation of ESDS items outside an ESD Protected Area (hereafter referred to as “EPA”) requires enclosure in static protective materials, although the type of material depends on the situation and destination. Inside an EPA, low charging and static dissipative materials may provide adequate protection. Outside an EPA, low charging and static discharge shielding materials are recommended. While these materials are not discussed in the document, it is important to recognize the differences in their application. For more clarification see ANSI/ESD S541.
All StaticWorx AmeriWorx ESD vinyl tile meets ESD Association (ESDA) standards.
Why Choose ESD Message Tiles?
Clearly Define ESD Protected Areas
ESD Message Tiles provide a highly visible way to mark the boundaries of ANSI/ESD S20.20–compliant EPAs, especially at entrances, exits, and transition zones.
Reduce Risk of Improper Handling
By clearly identifying protected and unprotected areas, message tiles help prevent ESD-sensitive electronics from being transported outside EPAs without proper shielding.
Improve Awareness for Staff and Visitors
Visual cues remind employees and plant visitors to follow required precautions—such as wearing ESD-approved footwear—before entering protected environments.
Seamless Integration with Existing Flooring
Available in carpet, rubber, vinyl, and GroundLock Extreme interlocking formats, message tiles are designed to match and integrate cleanly with existing StaticWorx flooring systems.
Standards-Aligned ESD Compliance
Message tiles support compliance with ANSI/ESD S20.20 guidelines by reinforcing EPA boundaries and proper material handling practices.
Customizable, Modular, and Durable
Custom designs and modular formats allow facilities to tailor messaging to specific workflows while maintaining durability in high-traffic areas—backed by StaticWorx expertise.

ESD Message TilesFrequently Asked Questions
What are ESD message tiles used for?
ESD message tiles are used to clearly define the boundaries of ESD Protected Areas (EPAs). They provide highly visible visual cues at entrances, exits, and transition zones to help prevent accidental movement of ESD-sensitive electronics outside protected areas.
Why is it important to mark ESD Protected Areas?
Clearly marked EPA boundaries reduce the risk of improper handling or transport of sensitive electronics and remind employees and visitors to follow required precautions—such as wearing ESD-approved footwear—before entering protected spaces.
Do ESD message tiles support industry standards?
Yes. Our ESD message tiles reinforce EPA boundary requirements outlined in ANSI/ESD S20.20, helping facilities maintain compliant ESD control programs through clear visual identification.
What flooring types are ESD message tiles available in?
StaticWorx ESD message tiles are available in carpet, rubber, vinyl, and GroundLock Extreme interlocking vinyl, allowing them to integrate seamlessly with existing StaticWorx flooring systems.
Can ESD message tiles be customized?
Yes. Message tiles are customizable and modular, allowing facilities to tailor wording, layout, and placement to match specific workflows, traffic patterns, and risk zones.
Are ESD message tiles durable enough for high-traffic areas?
Absolutely. ESD message tiles are engineered for high-traffic industrial environments, maintaining visibility and performance at entrances, exits, and other heavily traveled transition points.
